Archaeobotanical studies conducted at the Turó de la Font de la Canya site in Avinyonet del Penedès confirm the role of this settlement as the cradle of viticulture in Penedès since the late 7th century BC (625-600 BC). The hundreds of charred and mineralized pits recovered in recent archaeological excavations represent the most important and oldest collection documented to date in Catalonia.

These are natural water lakes that were formed due to the exploitation of gypsum quarries. Industrial activity was abandoned in the early '90s, and today these lakes form a natural area where various amphibians and birds stay throughout the year.

Visit the shrine of the Virgin of Montserrat, the Patroness of Catalonia, and taste the typical "mató" cheese sold at the stalls in the square.

Our Houses

Contact

Agritourism in the heart of Penedès since 1992. Cal Jeroni is a shared rural accommodation (room rentals), and Ca la Siona is a restored rural house with a capacity for 6 people. Both houses are located in the middle of the square of Cantallops, one of the rural hubs of the municipality of Avinyonet del Penedès, at the foot of the Ordal mountain range. They are accessible via the N-340 road that connects Barcelona and Tarragona.
