OVERVIEW

Iberian site at Font de la Canya

The archaeological-botanical studies conducted at the site of Turó de la Font de la Canya, in Avinyonet del Penedès, confirm the role of this settlement as the cradle of the Penedès grape and wine growing from the late seventh century BC (625-600 BC). The hundreds of charred and mineralized pits recovered in recent excavations represent the oldest and most important collection documented today in Catalonia.
